CITY OF CONCORD (NC) ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONTROL BOARD
The Concord Alcoholic Beverage Control Board (ABC) is seeking well-qualified candidates with relevant public or private sector management experience for its General Manager (GM) position. The current GM is retiring. The GM manages operations and sales in eight (8) stores (including store for mixed beverage permittees); oversees inventory and warehouse; manages property and facilities; oversees 32 full-time positions and approximately 40 part-time employees; plans for future growth and fiscal stability; and maintains productive relationships with local governments and the community. Like the City of Concord, Concord ABC has experienced considerable growth with annual sales exceeding $33 million in 2022. The ABC Board is appointed by the Concord City Council and operates the ABC system and hires its General Manager in accordance with applicable NC General Statutes and NC ABC Commission regulations.
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Finance or related field, with minimum five (5) years experience in ABC, retail, or other relevant public or private sector operations management involving multiple employee locations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in retail liquor, wine or beer sales, or similar regulated business operations is a plus. The candidate should have considerable knowledge and experience with budget development and management, personnel administration, property management and development, technology, and the creation of a culture of customer service and employee engagement.
